NYX "Pink Lust" Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick Review + Swatch

Thursday, April 7, 2016

Honestly, I don't get NYX. They're always coming out with new products, which I normally wouldn't mind, except they put out multiple products that are so similar to one another and it makes me hella confused. NYX started with liquid matte lip products years back with their Soft Matte Lip Creams, but new they have Lip Lingerie, Whipped Lip & Cheek Soufflé, and the Liquid Suede things. Is it really necessary to saturate your own line? Where does the madness end!?

Ok, maybe I'm being a bit dramatic... let's stay on task here. NYX Liquid Suedes come in color coded tubes with black script and a black cap with a jewel mould on top. The tube is deceptively large since it's both longer than wider than their Soft Matte Lip Creams, but it contains half as much product. The applicator is a long, paddle shaped doe foor that does a decent job op application. Normally NYX lip products have a nice cupcake or buttercream scent to them, but this dude smells like paint. No me gusta. "Pink Lust" is a hot pink color that borders on fuchsia.

I'm really not a fan of this formula, with the exception of the pigmentation which is pretty decent. It feels very oily when it initially goes on, transitions to a somewhat tacky texture when it dries down. The lasting time on this was pretty varied for me. Both trials I put it through left me with two separate results. The first one pilled up very quickly on my inner lips where there is more moisture, but the second one fared a little better but still wore off quickly on my inner bottom lip. If you hold your lips still, you could get several hours of wear from this, but rubbing your lips will cause pilling, as does drinking, and eating destroys it. No spank you.

TL;DR

Price: $7

Size: 0.13 oz/4 mL

Availability: NYX, Ulta, Nordstrom, Fred Meyer, Target

Pros:
  • Pigmented
Cons:
  • Smells like paint
  • Remains sticky after drying
  • Wears easily around moisture
Cruelty free: Yes

Final thoughts: Just buy a Soft Matte Lip Cream. There are more color options, they're better quality, and $1 less for twice the product.
