Bite Beauty Musk & Lychee Luminous Creme Lipstick Duo Review + Swatches

Sunday, August 24, 2014
I have been dying to get my hands on a Bite Beauty lipstick ever since Emily of Beauty Broadcast raved about them! I was a little hesitant to drop $24 on a single lipstick from I brand I never tried though, so I got one of the duo minis from Sephora for half the price... and I'm kicking myself for it. I. Need. MORE!

I got the Luminous Creme Lipstick Duo in Musk/Lychee because Lord knows I don't have nearly enough neutral lipsticks! The thing is kinda weency (we're talking 0.05 oz per lipstick here), and the packaging is a little excessive, but I've totally fallen in love with both shades!

I personally think that the segment in the middle could be shorter because each bullet is laughably small, but that is just me. In (non-OCD) reality, the entire thing is about as long and about 1.5 times as thick as a SoftLips lip balm, so it doesn't occupy much space. The texture of the matte grey/black packaging is rubberized like NARS packaging, but doesn't pick up nearly as much ick. The Bite logo is off-centered on the middle segment

ON TO THE SWATCHES!

Musk is a beautimous pink/brown shade, making it a really great neutral pink for me. I am seriously in love with this shade, and I can definitely see me reaching for this when I want a more nude-sih M.L.B.B shades.

Lychee is a light neutral pink, and boy oh boy do I wish I had found this back when I was REALLY into light/baby pink lips back in '11... it would have saved me a lot of unflattering grief. This is probably the most flattering light pink that I've found for my bizarro undertone and pigmented natural lip. Loves!

Both lipsticks glide on like an absolute dream! The finish is a gorgeous cream that stays looking freshly-applied for quite some time. Don't even get me started on how impressed I am about the pigmentation and feel of these things! It is like having a ultra ultra ULTRA pigmented (read: full coverage) lip balm. I now know why these lipsticks are such favorites amongst those who own them. They've got to be one of the most comfortable to wear lipsticks with the best pigmentation I've come across.

TL;DR section:

Price: $24 (full sized), $12 (mini duo)

Size: 0.13 oz (full sized), 0.10 total (mini duo)

Availability: Sephora
Pros:
  • Full coverage color
  • VERY light weight
  • Super comfortable wear
  • Moisturizing
  • Light fruity taste/scent isn't overpowering
Cons:
  • I don't own every single lipstick from this line
  • Seriously... there aren't any cons
Cruelty free: Oui, cherie!

Final thoughts: I HAVE A MIGHTY NEED! I'm actually quite thankful that Bite Beauty is a Sephora exclusive, otherwise I'd spend my rent at my local Ulta on the entire line. These have one of the best, lightweight formulas that I've come across on top of having stellar color payoff. Definitely a good purchase.

    1. I have no idea. Cry and pray for press samples? Haha.

They do have another mini duo set with Palomino (bright magenta) and Violet, so that'll set you back the price of one lipstick, but you'll be getting 4 mini shades if you buy both. I also saw that they had a lipstick collection like this come out last Christmastime, so maybe we'll be blessed with more minis!
